VISUAL AID’S 11TH ANNUAL ‘BIG DEAL’ ART SALE AND FUNDRAISER

BIG DEAL is 11 years old!!!…
 Big Deal is a much-anticipated exhibition/art sale that benefits artists living with life-threatening illnesses.

Visual Aid’s spectacular BIG DEAL XI art sale and exhibition will take place on Saturday, November 13 at the SOMArts Gallery, at 934 Brannan Street (between 8th and 9th Streets) in San Francisco.

Tickets are $25, and go on sale at 3:00pm. Doors open at 4:00pm, and the sale runs from 5 – 8:00pm.

At BIG DEAL XI, 600 works of art will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis at a fixed price of $110 plus tax.

BIG DEAL generates public excitement every year due to the quality of the work it features at such a reasonable cost, tempting both new and seasoned art collectors with exceptional paintings, prints, drawings, sculpture, ceramics, and glass. Late-arrivers find that there are numerous fabulous artworks still available, though dozens of art lovers camp outside SOMArts before the event, just to hold their place in line. Come mingle with hundreds of other art collectors, artists and friends, while checking out the exhibition and enjoying the party.

The BIG DEAL XI features three events rolled into one:

• Affordable art sale – 600 works of art by Bay Area artists to be sold on a first-come, first-served basis at a fixed price of $110 plus tax.

• Silent auction – Twelve works of art donated by some of the region’s top artists, along with other fabulous items will be sold to the highest bidders via silent auction.

• Free Prizes – Exciting prizes will be given away via a free drawing.

Admission tickets provide access to all three events and include light hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and beverages.

All proceeds from the event benefit Visual Aid’s programs for artists with life-threatening illnesses.  Programs sponsored by Visual Aid include a Voucher Program and ArtBank for free art supplies, an active Exhibition Program, Career Services, Image Archives and a Workshop and Lecture series.

Attention artists: How to donate work to BIG DEAL X


Please support our efforts by making a donation of one or more of your artworks to BIG DEAL XI! We also encourage you to invite your friends to donate artworks.

Email us today or call us at 415-777-8242 to let us know that you plan to donate your artwork. Contributions are welcomed through November 12.

As an art donor, you will receive free admission to the party.

Artwork* can be dropped off at these locations:

1. BIG DEAL/SOMArts drop-off: Thursday, November 11 from 12:00pm to 8:00pm, and Friday, November 12th from 10:00am to 6:30 pm at 934 Brannan between 8th and 9th Streets. For directions to SOMArts, please call (415) 552-2131.

2. San Francisco drop-off and mailing address: October 20-November 06, at the Visual Aid office, 731 Market Street, Ste. 600 (between 3rd and 4th Streets), San Francisco, CA 94103. Office hours are Mon-Fri 10:00am to 5:00pm.

3. East Bay drop-off: (Date in November to be announced) at the studio of Robert Brokl, 2707 8th Street at Carleton in Berkeley. Coming from Route 80, take the Ashby exit toward the Berkeley Hills, go left on San Pablo, left on Carleton, and left on 8th. A sign will be posted out front. Call (510) 655-3841 for further directions if necessary.

4. North Bay drop-off: (Location and date in November to be announced).

5. South Bay drop-off: (Location and date in November to be announced).

*If your work is especially large or difficult to install, please call the Visual Aid office to make special arrangements.

How to join our volunteer family, helping to present Big Deal XI

If you are interested in being part of our fabulous team of BIG DEAL event volunteers or installers, or recommending other artists for a donation, please contact our office at (415)777-8242.  

Whether you are interested in spending one afternoon contacting artists, working with the Visual Aid staff as an Event Intern on an on-going basis, or helping on Big Deal day, we will work with you to find a place on our wonderful team of volunteers.

How to make a Big Deal purchase for $110

1. Purchase numbered admission ticket ($25) at 3pm at the door.  Your ticket is your sales card, and the number indicates your priority to buy art.

2. Doors open for ticket holders' exhibition viewing at 4pm.

3. List the artwork that you want to buy on your sales card.

4. The sale starts at 5pm.  Listen for your number to be called, and approach the sales area to make your purchases.

5. Pick up your purchases from the wrapping room, and enjoy your artwork!

Big Deal includes affordable fine art and a silent auction. 600+ artworks @ $110 plus tax. The event will be held at SOMArts Gallery, 935 Brannan St.at 8th. Ticket sales start at 3 p.m. on November 13 (no advance sales), doors open at 4 p.m., the sale begins at 5 p.m. Donating artists receive free admission to the party.

For drop-off times and locations, please keep an eye on our website for updates. We'll also send you a postcard and notify you by email of our North Bay, South Bay, East Bay and San Francisco drop-off times and locations.
