Big
Deal 15, Visual Aid’s Art Sale and Fundraiser Extravaganza!
4:00–9:00pm, Saturday, November 8th, 2008
SomArts Cultural Center, 934 Brannan Street in San Francisco
"The sale of the year...an event not to miss...,
attended by groups of art lovers - make that fanatics..." - SF
Chronicle
Big Deal is Visual Aid’s wildly popular, signature event where
over 600 paintings, photographs, prints and sculptures sell on a first
come, first served basis for $160 each. A silent and live auction top
off the evening. Big Deal is a great place to mingle with hundreds
of artists and collectors, art students and friends. One of the fascinating
and unique aspects of BIG DEAL, is that it provides a “snapshot” of
the artistic activity in the Bay Area - a cross-section of work by
students and professional artists - some are household names, some
are lesser known, working in all media and styles. A great place to
purchase your first work of art at an affordable price!
Enjoy the art and people watching—while green fairies serve Obsello
absinthe from glass fountains; and delicious local wines, ale and juices
are poured with abandon. Lavish hors d’oeuvres, desserts and
a Schoggi imported Swiss chocolate tasting will tempt your palate.
DJ’s N!K and Toma will be on hand spinning awesome grooves.
Tickets sales begin at 3pm, doors open at 4pm, and the sale runs from
5-9:00pm.

“Red Hot Poker”,
2008, Mixed Media Monoprint, by Jennifer Bain
Here’s How it Works
• Affordabe Fixed Price Art Sale - 600+ works of art by Bay Area artists
will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis at a fixed price of $160 plus
tax.
• Auction – The auction will feature works of art donated
by some of the region’s top artists, as well as spa and restaurant
packages, jewelry and other luxury items.
• Big Deal Wheel and Free Drawing – Numerous exciting prizes
will be given away via free drawing and at the Big Deal Wheel.
All proceeds from Big Deal benefit Visual Aids programs. Visual Aid
encourages professional artists with life-threatening illnesses--such
as AIDS and breast cancer--to continue their creative work by providing
free art supplies, grants, exhibition opportunities and community.
Affordable Art Sale
A unique model where 600+ original works of art by famous and lesser-known
artists alike are sold for the reasonable price of $160, in a “democratic,” first-come,
first served basis. New and seasoned collectors line up for the opportunity
to purchase exceptional paintings, prints, drawings, sculpture and
photographs. Those who want to avoid the line can arrive late, and
will still have the opportunity to choose from among hundreds of appealing
works of art.
