25 Ways You Can Help

1) Help create awareness about Visual Aid's mission, programs, exhibitions and events by blogging, twittering, youtubeing, digging, yelping, flickering, bookmarking us on delicious, tagging your Visual Aid pics, podcasting, messaging, posting, sending out email blasts, writing an article or including us on your website, myspace or facebook page. You could start by forwarding this email to friends!

2) Doing some spring cleaning? Donate used items in Visual Aid's name to Community Thrift at 623 Valencia Street, 861-4910. We are charity #94. A list of items Community Thrift accepts is available on their website.

3) Provide art supplies to an artist in need by sponsoring a $500 grant to an individual artist.

4) Ask your company to donate auction items or services to Visual Aid, such as wine, gift certificates for dinners or vacation stays, airline tickets, designer furniture, etc.

5) Call us if you have a restaurant, gallery or space that would like to sponsor a special event.

6) Join our X-Team and sharpen your curatorial and installation skills while producing exciting Visual Aid exhibitions

7) Your financial contributions are always needed and will be applied to services that directly benefit Visual Aid artists. Donate by MC or Visa via our secure website, just click the "donate now" button, or call (415) 777-8242 and staff will run your charge. Checks are welcomed.

8) Become a Visual Aid intern and work on exhibitions and special events.

9) Visual Aid artists need your gently-used art supplies and frames-they
will be distributed through Visual Aid's beloved ArtBank. Come visit and see how your donation helps create a sense of abundance.

10) Are you a busy person who would like to volunteer a few hours? Meet artists and contribute by joining a Visual Aid volunteer team at a street fair, mailing or fun event.

11) Get to know Visual Aid artists work by visiting Visual Aid exhibitions, archives and website. Call us for more information on individual artists.

12) Use your expertise in fundraising, P/R, or installation for Visual Aid projects.

13) Donate your car or truck to Visual Aid. We make it easy - we will pick up your vehicle and take care of the paperwork.

14) Donate your artwork or volunteer for Visual Aid's fabulous 16th Annual BIG DEAL art sale and fundraiser, November 14, 2009- email bigdeal@visualaid.org for details.

15) Why not set up a simple fundraiser for Visual Aid at your restaurant, shop or salon? Have a special dinner or after-hours sale and donate a percentage of the proceeds to the organization.

16) Have a restaurant or catering business? Provide catering and add spice to our special events. We'll love you for it.

17) Tell a friend about Visual Aid programs-help us reach out to artists in need and potential supporters.

18) Ask your company to become a corporate sponsor of Visual Aid-we specialize in creative partnerships.

19) Visual Aid artists and staff would love to make a presentation at your college, workplace or house party-just give us a call to make arrangements.

20) Join our community: keep up to date on Visual Aid events and join our community by simply signing up on Visual Aid's email list.

21) Need a special gift for friends or family? Do your shopping at Under One Roof where Visual Aid is a beneficiary. They are located at 518A Castro Street, near 19th Street in San Francisco, for more info visit Under One Roof.

22) Have a great time at Visual Aid auctions, art walks and exhibitions. Bring your friends and family! (Or consider purchasing a ticket even if you're unable to attend.)

23) Are you an optometrist? Please call Visual Aid to find out how you can help provide glasses to an artist who is visually impaired.

24) Make a commitment to volunteer 4-6 hours a week and gain behind-the-scenes experience with your favorite nonprofit!
